Resources and opportunities for learning and teaching digital and computational skills
The shift to a knowledge-driven economy with a great emphasis on critical thinking is driving demand for a highly skilled, creative, and flexible workforce. The understanding of the impact of digital technology on pedagogy within academic learning spaces is an important topic to consider and also in the long run will be significant for many people in education. Places are pedagogic (Hickey, 2012) and space is relational. The current move to redesigning physical learning spaces is representative of a view that infrastructure plays a crucial role in shaping teaching practices in higher education institutions in South Africa and internationally.
Fatima Darsot is a high-performing and experienced Educationist with a passion for enhancing the quality of life through education at all levels. She has been at the university for the past 12 years and has been involved in teaching communication to various disciplines in the university. She also holds a strong track record for ensuring long-term sustainable growth in educational programmes. Her background is in English education, educational linguistics, education research and engineering education. Her goal is to motivate students to do their best and extend their own personal limits. She is currently pursuing a PhD in engineering education.
